LAHORE: Several thousand supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from different parts of the country are likely to join the party’s protest rally in Raiwind to press the PML-N government for elimination of corruption and Panama Papers investigation, Samaa reported Friday.

According to our correspondent, a large number of PTI workers has reached Adda Plot on Raiwind Road to participate in the “accountability movement” march that is another massive political show by Imran Khan, who seeks inquiry into alleged off shore holdings of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family.

A stage has been erected and seating arrangements is made at venue for the march that is just five kilometers from Sharif Family residence, as authorities have placed shipping containers on key roads leading to Jati Umra in Raiwind.

Caravans of supporters have started pouring in the city.

It will be a solo flight by the PTI as its allies – Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) – have decided not to participate in the protest march.

However, the Awami Muslim League (AML) of Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed has announced to join the march.

Imran Khan is already in an aggressive mood and has announced that he will send a strong message to Nawaz Sharif as well as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of skirmishes along the Line of Control.

Punjab government claims there are reports that Indian spy agency RAW and its Afghan counterpart had planned terrorist activities to target the PTI march; however, Imran Khan is undeterred, saying such threats had always been conveyed whenever the party planned to raise voice against the rulers’ corruption and rigging in 2013 general elections.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has warned that the PTI will be solely responsible for any mishap in the wake of the threat alerts.

The PTI has set up a helpline to disseminate information about any untoward incident and the “PML-N’s Gullus”, a reference to rowdy elements allegedly patronised by the ruling party. - Samaa
