PM meets Hurriyat leaders ahead of UN General Assembly session

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the Kashmir issue would be fully highlighted at United Nations General Assembly session.

He was talking to Hurriyat leaders in Muzaffarabad on Friday ahead of his visit to New York to attend UN General Assembly session.

The Prime Minister said he would also take up the issue of Kashmir during his bilateral meetings with different world leaders.

He also held out an assurance that Pakistan would continue its moral, diplomatic and political support for right of self-determination of Kashmiri people.

Mian Nawaz Sharif said the international community too has accepted the right of self-determination of Kashmiris.

The Prime Minister urged the United Nations to fulfil its pledge to Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination as per resolutions of the world body.

He said Pakistan would raise Kashmir issue at every global forum.

The Prime Minister regretted that brutalities against people of Occupied Kashmir have reached to the extreme. He said Kashmiris are demanding nothing but justice and right of self-determination.

He said history bears testimony to the fact that such movements cannot be suppressed through use of force. He expressed the confidence that the movement of Kashmiris would succeed.

Hurriyat leaders thanked the Prime Minister for taking them into confidence before embarking upon his US visit.

AJK President Masood Khan and Prime Minister Sardar Farooq Haider were also present during the meeting.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ch. Barjees Tahir and Special Assistants to Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and Dr. Asif Kirmani accompanied the Prime Minister.-AFP
