KARACHI: Unidentified gunmen attacked a police mobile in Karachi on Friday afternoon and managed to free two alleged target killers, officials said.

The ambush took place in Manzoor Colony near Malir River.

According to the police,Rafiq, a police constable, was killed and another, identified as Daim, was injured.

Dr Seemi Jamali, Incharge Emergency Department, confirmed the death of constable Rafique.  "Daim is out of danger," she said.

A third policeman was taken hostage for a few minutes and then released unharmed by the assailants.

A police spokesman said that police party was shifting two target killers back to their cell after presenting them in an anti-terrorism court.

The police had got 10-day remand of the accused.

The suspects identified as Imtiaz and Malik, were arrested on September 20. They were wanted by police in the murder of Headconstable Yousuf Lodhi. - SAMAA
