RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of revelations made in Panama Leaks regarding offshore wealth of the ruling family.
Speaking to the media before leading his party’s Ehtasab (accountability) rally from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, Khan defended his decision to take out a rally, saying peaceful protest was beauty of democracy.
“We will continue to hold peaceful protests if institutions fail to deliver justice,” he said.
The PTI chief said that the government was resorting to blackmailing instead of responding to questions raised by the opposition parties regarding Panama Leaks.
Khan also accused the PML-N government of attempts to put a price tag on opposition.
“In a democracy, Prime Minister is supposed to be answerable to nation. Prime Minister Sharif must answer,” he said.
Khan insisted that his anti-government protest movement would go on despite the hurdles being created by the government. – SAMAA
