ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) summoned Chief of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai on September 1 over controversial remarks on security agencies in National Assembly.

The ECP heard the petition filed by former presidential candidate Waheed Kamal against Achakzai.

The petition pleaded that Achakzai made an effort to sully the name of Pakistan’s armed forces despite the fact that the forces cannot be blamed under Article-19 of the Constitution.

Kamal appealed to the commission to disqualify the PkMAP chief. On this, the commission called him on September 1.

Meantime, the ECP adjourned Kamal’s another petition regarding the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif till August 17. –SAMAA
