Fresh wave of monsoon rains begin

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) says monsoon currents of moderate to strong intensity have begun across the country under the influence of fresh westerly wave.

PMD said the weather condition will produce good spells of rains at a number of places in Punjab, Lower Sindh and Kashmir from Sunday to Thursday.

Rain/dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls/windstorm is also expected at scattered places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, upper Sindh and eastern Balochistan during the period.

Isolated heavy downpours may trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas. All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert during the period.

Rain/dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls accompanied by windstorm is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions), Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat divisions, FATA and Kashmir during evening/night.

Drizzle is expected at a few places in Sindh coast.

Widespread rain/dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls accompanied by windstorm is expected in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions), Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan and Kashmir, while at scattered places in Malakand, Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Sahiwal, Multan, D.G. Khan, Bahawalpur and lower Sindh.
