ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday vowed to address the reservations of Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah over extension to powers of the paramilitary force in the province.
“How can Rangers perform its due role without the powers,” he said this in his telephonic conversation with Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar.
He assured the chief paratrooper that the government will ensure the Rangers’ presence in pursuance of Supreme Court’s rulings, adding the Rangers will be accorded complete legal cover.
On this occasion, he voiced concerns over attempts meant to create hurdles in Rangers duties and directed that paratroopers on VIP security should be withdrawn. –SAMAA
