Karachi: Monsoon currents are continuously penetrating in the country and likely to continue during next couple of days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. More rain expected in Karachi tonight.

However, in Karachi, two children, including a minor girl, were killed as the city received its first showers Tuesday evening that turned the weather pleasant but wreaked havoc on the city’s ill-maintained electricity and sewerage systems.

A 12-year-old boy was electrocuted while playing in his street in North Karachi, while a three-year-old girl died when a wall collapsed in Orangi Town.

Although the maximum rainfall the city received was not even two inches, around 200 power feeders of K-Electric tripped, plunging the city into darkness for multiple hours.

More than 30% of Karachi is still experiencing a power outage.

Mayor-designate Waseem Akhtar flayed Sindh government for its ineffective management of city's municipal affairs.

Lahore isn't any better either

Over 575 buildings in Lahore have been declared dangerous in a recent list released by the city government, Samaa reported.

Alerting authorities and the locals, the city government has said the said buildings can collapse in the upcoming monsoon showers. – SAMAA
