LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) senior leader, Aleem Khan, claims that he owns to hidden or undeclared offshore asset, as revealed in the Panama Papers, Samaa reported Monday.
“I have declared all my assets and had provided details to Federal Board of Revenue and Election Commission of Pakistan, so what’s the big deal and what’s the leak?” he questioned, while addressing a news conference.
According to senior journalist Omar Cheema, who is associated with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), the second round of Panama Papers leak identifies more than 400 Pakistanis owning offshore companies.
Aleem Khan’s name also features in the documents.
But he claimed with confidence that he didn’t figure in the Panama Papers and that his name was purposely included in the story ‘on behest of ruling party’.

“I have four declared flats in London besides all declared assets in Pakistan. I have provided details of each and every holing to FBR and ECP in my nomination papers, but despite all this I wonder why I’m time and against being named in Panama Papers.”
“I request the journalist who has shown half-truth to please come up with facts about my undeclared and offshore assets, if there are any.
“I served as minister for five years and as MPA for eight years but not even a single claim of corruption or kickback could be found against m,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, speaking to Samaa, Cheema defended his story published in a local newspaper, asserting that Khan can’t deny the facts. – Samaa
