SUKKUR: Jamaat-e-Islami’s train march against corruption, spearheaded by the party chief Senator Sirajul Haq, entered into third phase as it reached Rohri station in Sindh, Samaa reported Friday.

In the backdrop of Panama Leaks revelations, the ‘Corruption-Free Pakistan’ march was kicked off yesterday from Peshawar to mobilise masses against corrupt leaders.

The train is scheduled to reach Karachi’s Cantonment Station today evening.

“We demands accountability of every corrupt person, even Sirajul Haq should be held accountable if he is involved in corruption,” the JI chief addressed a large number of his supporters at Rohri railway station when the march entered Sindh after leaving Lahore, according to our correspondent.

He said the party would reveal its future course of action regarding the anti-corruption campaign on May 30 at Youth convention in Islamabad.

The train later departed from Rohri station.

Earlier, on its way to Rahri, the chief also addressed party workers at different railway stations including Raiwind, Kot Radha Kishan, Pitoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Chicha Watni and Mian Chunnu where he was warmly welcomed.

Haq also addressed party activists gathered at several railway stations along the route from Peshawar to Lahore.

In his speeches, the JI chief has said that corruption and Pakistan could not go hand in hand with each other. He said people would head to Islamabad if the government did not pay heed to widespread corruption in the country.

He also criticised the ruling PML-N over its failure to curb drone attacks in Pakistan, describing the recent strike in Balochistan as ‘direct attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty’.

The JI chief is accompanied by other party leaders, including Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa emir Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Emir Sindh chapter Dr. Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui and others. – Samaa
