PAKISTAN-UNREST-EXPLOSION
ISLAMABAD: Security forces conducted five different raids in parts of the country, arresting 26 alleged militants following a suicide attack at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Lahore that left 72 people dead and over 300 injured, Samaa reported.

According to sources, the security forces are conducting raids on the information provided by the intelligence agencies.

The arrested militants included operatives of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the sources said, adding that those who are providing assistance to the proscribed outfits are also being held.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the accused, they added.

Earlier, Pakistan army kicked off a large-scale crackdown on banned militant groups across Punjab a day after the horrific attack at Lahore Park.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif chaired a security meeting at army headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Sources said the army chief directed military to start a massive crackdown in different cities of Punjab to flush out militants of banned organizations and break their financial network. –Samaa
