PML-N’s Iftikhar Cheema wins NA-101 by-polls

WAZIRABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) candidate Justice (Retd) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema won NA-101 by-election (Wazirabad) held here on Tuesday.

According to unofficial results, Justice (Retd) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema got 82,420 votes while his rival PTI candidate Muhammad Ahmed Chatta secured 80,123 votes.

As many as 14 candidates of different parties are contesting the by-election. The voting begun at 8.00am and will continue till 5 pm.

Police and personnel of Pakistan army performed security duties at polling stations.

Justice (R) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema was elected as MNA from NA-101 Gujranwala in the general election 2013, but this constituency became vacant as Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified him for concealing assets and ordered re-poll in this constituency. --APP
