RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayers of Lt. Col. Tauqir, who was martyred last night in a helicopter crash at Tarbela, held on Tuesday at Chaklala garrison.

Lt Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Malik Zafar Iqbal, Corps Commander and other senior serving military and civil officers and relatives of the Shaheed officers attended the prayers.

The body of Lt. Col. was later sent to his ancestral village in district Chakwal for burial with full military honours.

The crash took place as the helicopter was landing in Tarbela, some 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of capital Islamabad. The military helicopter that crashed in Tarbela was on routine night training.

Lieutenant colonel Tauqir embraced martyrdom while four others escaped alive.  - Samaa
