KARACHI: The investigation agencies have kicked in top gear the efforts to track down the perpetrators of yesterday’s brazen gun attack that claimed the lives of two Military Police personnel.

According to the report of forensic test of bullet casings, the firearm used in the Tuesday’s attack on MA Jinnah Road, was also used in assault on paramilitary personnel in Baldia Town area of Ittehad Town. The gory onslaught in Baldia resulted in  the assassination of four Rangers men.

According to eyewitnesses, two assailants ambushed the military police vehicle not in motion at that time and fired pointblank shots on one of the city's busiest road marred by usual gridlocks during peak hours.

According to investigators, the attackers masked their faces at the time of assault. The personnel were targeted with 9MM pistol with a pointblank range, according to the investigation officers.

Four bullet casings were found from the vehicle and one from outside, according to the preliminary report.
