KARACHI: Upholding its previous order to seal the Moon Garden apartment, The Sindh High Court (SHC) Thursday dismissed a review petition filed by the residents of the apartment against their eviction from a multi-story building, which was declared illegal.
The residents of Moon Garden apartment had filed a petition with the Sindh High Court (SHC), seeking an order against their eviction from the building.
The SHC discarding the petition ruled that the petition is not maintainable.
The court said the petitioner could become a party in a case of Railway Co-operative Society.
The Moon Garden is an apartment located in Gulistan-e-Johar, comprising at least 180 leased flats. But, Pakistan Railways says the land belongs to it.
The inhabitants of the building were evicted on Tuesday from their own flats, which they bought with their hard-earned money. Since then, the affected people have been staging protest demonstrations on roads.
It is pertinent to mention here that the SHC had ordered to seal the building and directed the Police IG and the Additional IG to ensure that ‘Moon Garden’, was totally vacated within 30 days.
