KARACHI: The residents of Karachi’s Moon Garden apartments approached Sindh High Court (SHC) against their forced eviction from a multi-storey building declared illegal by government, Samaa reported Thursday.
The Moon Garden is a flat compound comprising at least 180 leased flats. But, Pakistan Railways says the land belongs to it.
The inhabitants of the building were evicted on Tuesday from their own flats, which they bought with their hard-earned money. Since then, the affected people have been staging protest demonstrations on roads.
Distress as huge as lofty mountains has befallen the residents who were given three-day ultimatum.
On last day of the deadline today, the residents filed a petition in the SHC, stating that the court should order authorities to stay evacuation and razing of the building since a case is already under hearing in Supreme Court. – Samaa
