ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) Member National Assembly Daniyal Aziz has served a legal notice on Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan for making defamatory remarks against him.

"My disclosure to media about hydel power scam in the KPK government has badly pinched the PTI chief, who has been making defamatory remarks against him in TV shows," the PMLN lawmaker told a press conference.

He added that a notice for Rs 1.5 billion compensatory damages had been sent to Imran Khan who was bent on leveling baseless allegations against the PMLN in frustration.

"Imran Khan is bound to respond to the notice in 14 days or tender an apology from nation," said he.

He alleged the KPK government had failed to utilize the funds exclusively meant for hydel projects to produce electricity.

"The  funds were invested in stock exchange as highlighted by the KPK budget document," Aziz stressed.

However, 3300 MW electricity could have been added to the national grid.

"Had the projects been carried out in time, the power situation would have been improved by now in the country," he added.

He maintained his party would go on exposing corruption episodes of  the PTI-led KPK government which had made hollow claims for masses's welfare during election campaign.--Samaa/APP
