KARACHI: Senior leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Farooq Sattar, claimed on Friday that law-enforcing personnel have seized at least 10,000 hides collected by his party workers in Karachi, Samaa reported.

“Despite the fact that we have signed a code of conduct and have been given permission in written, there are reports of arrests in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Karachi, Landi and Korangi… I appeal Prime Minster and army chief to take notice of this situation,” the MQM stalwart spoke to Samaa.

Disowning those forcefully collecting the hides of sacrificial animals, Farooq Sattar claimed that law-enforcers have seized more than 10,000 hides collected by MQM and it welfare organization, Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) at different collection points in the city.

“People are voluntarily giving us hides, if someone is forcible collecting he is not worker of MQM or KKF, he must be arrested.”

Earlier, police and paramilitary Rangers arrested at least eight people for ‘forcible’ collection of hides, and seized 150 hides.

It was not clear whether those arrested were associated with any political or religious group. – Samaa
