KARACHI: Injured lawmaker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Rashid Godil, would remain more three or four days in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH), Samaa reported.

Doctors say he is continuously showing progress, but could not be said completely out of danger, adding that he could be shifted to the ward after three or four days.

Godil, who was critically injured in Tuesday’s gun attack in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area, started breathing at his own when doctors removed his ventilator. He gain consciousness and spoke to his family members through sign language.

Four attackers on motorcycles opened fire on his car in Bahadurabad area, critically wounding him and killing his driver.

He was struck by five bullets to his jaw, chest, neck and abdomen. One bullet that affected his right lung was still in the body and would stay there as his condition did not permit that he be operated upon, LNH spokesman Anjum Rizvi said.

He said Godil would still remain off the ventilator today, hoping that Godil would improve in a couple of days. - Samaa
