Rain Batters Rawalpindi:

Incidents of roof collapse due to consistent monsoon rain on Tuesday killed at least eight people, with four missing as low-lying areas of the city were inundated and water level in Rawalpindi’s Nullah Lai rose.

The rain in twin cities exposed tall claims made by the departments concerned of Tehsil Municipal Authority (TMA), Water and Sanitation Authority (Wasa) and district government about sanitation and cleanliness.

All the arrangements were exposed when rainwater choked the entire drainage system mainly of low-lying areas and turned several roads including roads of Muslim Town, Waris Khan,Kuri Road, Naz Cinema, Charah Road, Dhoke Khaba, Arya Mohallah, Nadeem Colony, Dhoke Elahi bukush, Umer Raod, and other areas into ponds of water.

The residents faced great difficulties because rainwater inundated streets due to poor cleanliness arrangements. – Samaa
