KARACHI: Gunmen who were held yesterday in connection with the May 13 assault on Ismailis in Karachi, confessed to killing social activist Sabeen Mahmud, SAMAA reported.
According to police sources, the suspects told interrogators that they had murdered T2F Director Sabeen Mahmud in Defence area late last month.
They had plotted the gruesome attack on Ismailis in Nawabshah. The suspects carried out recce of Ismailis for few days before launching the assault.
Tahir, one of the suspects, admitted that his group was also behind the April 16 gun attack on American professor Debra Lobo. The suspect was involved in a murder incident in Hyderabad.
Moreover, he confessed to his involvement in a bank robbery in North Nazimabad. His brother, Shahid, was killed in a police encounter in Karachi on May 2. – SAMAA
