ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Monday passed two separate unanimous resolutions, expressing deep grief and sorrow over the Naltar and Safoora Goth incidents.
The first resolution which was passed and presented by Governor Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhary Barjees Tahir, expressed heartful condolences to families of the ambassadors of Philippines Domingo D. Lucenario Jr) and Norway Leif Larsen who along with wives of the Malaysian and Indonesian Ambassadors lost their lives, when the MI-17 helicopter crashed before landing in Naltar Valley on May 8.
They also expressed grief over the martyrdom of Major Altamash, Major Faisal and Naib Subedar Zakir, who, being crew of the helicopter, lost their lives in the incident.
The members prayed for the early recovery of the injured including the Polish, Dutch, Romanian and Lebanese Ambassadors, the High Commissioners of Malaysia and Indonesia and the wife of Polish ambassador.
It expressed complete solidarity and reiterated deep sympathies for the grieved people and governments of the said countries on this occasion of irreparable loss.
The second resolution expressed deep grief and sorrow over the Karachi incident, which claimed 45 lives including 17 women belonging to the Ismaili Community.
The House strongly condemned the brutal terrorist attacks on a peaceful Ismaili community.
The House expressed solidaraity with the Ismaili community, sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of the injured.
The resolution demanded of the Federal and Sindh governments to take all necessary measures to bring the perpetrators to justice and provide the best medical facilities to the injured and also demanded to implement National Action Plan in letter and spirit. – APP
