PESHAWAR: Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen) estimated up to 26 percent rigging in recently held Local Government (LG) elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Samaa reported.
While presenting a report before media, Fafen chief executive Shahid Fayaz said that women were stopped from using their right to vote at 15 polling stations.
The Fafen report held the Election Commission of Pakistan and the provincial government responsible for unrest and irregularities in the elections.
Though, Fayaz said, turnout in election was higher in comparison with general elections, it was affected by untrained staff, inadequate number of polling stations and rioting.
“13 percent of the polling stations opened late across the province,” the Fafen chief executive said. -Samaa
