Pakistan condemns Houthis rebels, supports Yemen govt: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Saturday expressed Pakistan’s support to Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi’s government in Yemen and condemned Houthis rebels.

Clarifying Pakistan’s position on different dimensions of Yemen crisis here, Sharif said that Pakistan has urged Iran to use its influence to bring Houthis rebels to negotiable table.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s long term commitment to Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability is the main pillar of the country’s foreign policy.

“Pakistan does not abandon friends and strategic partners especially at a time when their security is under threat,” the prime minister said.

He said Saudi Arabia is one of the most important strategic allies of Pakistan.

Sharif said Pakistan attaches importance to sanctity of the two holy mosques and full support to their custodian. –Samaa
