Sharifs discuss Senate polls, Punjab governorship

RAIWAND, LAHORE: The new government of Punjab would be appointed at the recommendation of provincial government.

The decision was taken by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after meeting Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at their Raiwand residence on Sunday.

The seat fell vacant on Thursday after the resignation of former governor Chaudhry Sarwar.

The two leaders also discussed the upcoming elections of Senate and related matters.

According to sources, Chief Minister Sharif assured that candidates would be fielded on 11 seats. He said that some new faces would also be given the chance to represent the party in the Upper House of the Parliament. – SAMAA
