ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Pervaiz Rashid, Tuesday said the terrible deaths of hundreds of people in Karachi Baldia Town factory fire would continue to haunt the whole nation until justice was served, Samaa reported.

“There is need to investigate the whole case as the accused, who had confessed to his involvement in the arson, was arrested for other violent crimes,” said he talking to the media after inaugurating an exhibition of calligraphy at a local art gallery here.

The police, he said, should be free from any political influence so that they could perform their duties independently, adding in Punjab appointments and transfers in the police department were being done on merit.

“Our enemies are faceless but we will fight them for as long they are out there. We will not change our lifestyle due to the fear of attacks,” the minister said.

He said Pakistan’s anti-terrorism operation would die hard across the country until the elimination of the last terrorist.

“Also the ongoing operation in Karachi has improved the law and order situation as the change is noticeable,” Rashid added.

To a question, he said the government was answerable to the masses.

“In democracy, the process of accountability continues and we are always ready for accountability,” he added.–SAMAA/APP
