Al-Qaeda Karachi chief among 4 militants killed

KARACHI: At least four operatives of Al-Qaeda including the chief of Karachi chapter were killed in an overnight encounter with Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh police in Karachi area of Qayyumabad.

Talking to media, CID In charge Raja Umar Khattab said the overnight shootout with the saboteurs of banned outfit occurred in D Area of Qayyumabad.

He said the killed Qaeda terrorists include Sajid alias Karjal, Muhammed Hashim, Yaseen alias Arafat and Shameem alias Commando.

He said Commander Sajid came to Karachi from Bangladesh in 2009 and got himself a fake identity card from the NADRA, adding Sajid was an expert in making bombs.

The police official further said Sajid became chief of Al-Qaeda Karachi after being affiliated with chief of Al-Qaeda Indian Content Wing, Asim in 2014.

Firearms, hand grenades, suicide jackets and Kalashnikovs were recovered from the killed terrorists, the CID chief said.

The terrorists, he added, were planning to mount a suicide attack today on a vehicle of an intelligence agency.

The killed terrorists were involved in targeted killing of police personnel in the megacity, he informed. –SAMAA
