KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan took notice of the third-degree fire that could not be extinguished even after eight hours, SAMAA reported Saturday.
The intense blaze engulfed a thread factory situated in SITE Industrial Area opposite Valika Chowrangi.
The governor called up commissioner of the city Shoaib Siddiqui and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Rauf Akhter Farooqui and directed them to tap into all available resources to put out the fire at the earliest.
Governor Ebad also suggested taking firefighting help from Karachi Port Trust and Pakistan Navy.
Following his instructions, all government firefighting vehicles including those from the KPT, have been summoned on the spot to partake in the operation.
It should be mentioned here that the inferno burned to ashes a massive stock of rubber and cloth stashed in the factory’s warehouse. The large part of the factory is still on fire. Also, a portion of the premises collapsed under intense inferno.
Talking to media, Administrator Rauf Siddiqui said all fire tenders and crew are busy in the firefighting operation, adding the chemical drums are the prime reason of the hitherto-uncontrollable blaze.
The fire was extinguished after 14 hours. –SAMAA
