QUETTA: A senior police officer and a judge narrowly escaped a powerful blast which killed a man and wounded at least 20 others in Quetta, Samaa reported Tuesday.

According to police and rescue officials, the bomb blast took place at Quetta’s Double Road just after two separate convoys of DSP Shafqat Janjua and ATC judge Nazir Ahmed passed by.

Both remained unhurt in the explosion which damaged five vehicles and nearby shops.

The bomb was planted in a car to target the convoys.

DSP Janjua, who is SHO of the Shalkot police station, was going to the local police station from his house, and the judge was also on his way to the court when the blast took place near their vehicles, initial reports said.

Security forces and rescue teams arrived at the site and shifted the dead and injured to civil hospital Quetta.

Experts of bomb disposal squad said 40 to 50 kg bomb was planted in a car and triggered through remote-control. – Samaa
