KARACHI: Senior Director of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Dr. Salma Kauser received death threats a day after four doctors of Gazdarabad hospital were suspended.

Dr Salma has written a letter to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, seeking protection after receiving threats.

In her letter, she said that her life is in danger and that she should be provided with adequate security.

Yesterday, the KMC suspended four doctors serving at Gazdarabad Hospital.

Talking to APP, Dr. Salma said that in response to public complaints about unavailability of doctors as well as paramedics and other lower cadre employees, she was directed by KMC Administrator, Rauf Akhter Farooqui, to keep strict vigil and also make surprise visits to the facility.

Necessary and extremely carefully conducted enquiry showed that there were no less than four doctors on pay roll of the hospital but had never attended their duties, she concluded. –Samaa/APP
