LAHORE: Director General Punjab Rangers Maj Gen Khan Tahir Javed said on Friday that Pakistan only responds to unprovoked shelling by India from across the working boundary.
While giving a detailed briefing here at the working boundary, DG Punjab Rangers said that India started unprovoked mortar shelling and firing in the last week of August.
He said that India fired a large number of mortars, adding in the last four years Indian Border Security Force had so far fired 8683 shells.
“We only respond to Indian shelling,” he reiterated while rejecting Indian propaganda over digging of trenches along the boundary by Pakistan.
It may be pointed out that shelling has intensified during the last four days in which over 13 Pakistanis have been martryed. As a precautionary measure, at least 31 villages have been evacuated in Zafarwal and Shakargarh, as Indian extremist approach knows no bounds with Indian guns and artillery persistently targeting civilians.
An important of the National Security Committee is also being held in Islamabad today to discuss India aggression. – Samaa
