KARACHI: In a bid to court help, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) reached out to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah over recent arrest of party workers in a rangers action late Wednesday.
The MQM leaders including Babar Ghauri and Farooq Sattar contacted the Chief Minister who elicited from them the details regarding the rangers crackdown at the party office located in Metroville Scheme-33.
It should be mentioned here that the rangers conducted a raid on the Muttahida’s main office located on Abul Isfahani Road and arrested over 30 party workers.
Shah reaffirmed the MQM is an ally of the provincial government. However, he pleaded with the party leadership to keep their workers peaceful.
The Muttahida leaders demanded the provincial government to take serious note of the state injustices and release the innocent workers at the earliest.
Meantime, MQM leaders Farooq Sattar and Wasim Akhtar contacted Additional Inspector General of Sindh Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo. The Karachi police chief assured the party leaders of justice. –SAMAA
