ISLAMABAD: Jamat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq Tuesday rang National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, asking him not to accept resignations tendered by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislators in the lower house of parliament.
Haq told Sadiq that political jirga comprising opposition members are facilitating talks between the government and protesting political parties in a bid to resolve prevailing political impasse.
The JI ameer expressed hope that all issues pertaining to political crisis would soon be resolved.
He said that the stakeholders have agreed upon 80 percent of the issues as a result of continuous efforts of the political jirga.
“The approval of resignations may suspend negotiations,” he added.
It was the second telephonic contact between Haq and the speaker over the issue since PTI members in the National Assembly (MNA) submitted their resignations. -Samaa
