LAHORE: A case of Model Town Tragedy has been registered against 21 accused including the prime minister, the Punjab chief minister and federal ministers nominated by Minhajul Quran (MuQ).

The registration of case came as Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri announced to observe “Youm-e-Inquilab” today as he said talks with the government have completely failed.

Talking to media, PAT lawyer Mansoor Afridi has also confirmed registration of the case, saying that he would receive a copy of  the FIR shortly.

At least 14 workers of PAT were killed, while scores of others injured in police deadly crackdown on June 17, 2013 outside MuQ’s secretariat in Model town.

MuQ in an application had asked police to register FIR against 21 accused including the prime minister, the Punjab chief ministers and federal ministers.

Yesterday, Dr Tahir ul Qadri had told the government that if they accept two demands including registration of FIR and resignation of Punjab CM Shabaz Sharif then he would negotiate with the government’s committee over his other demands.

However, Qadri late night announced that the government has refused his offer, saying that the talks have failed and now the protesters would observe day of revolution Thursday. -Samaa
