PHC orders re-polling at Nowshera‚ Lakki Marwat polling stations

Staff ReportPESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PSH) ordered re-polling at the polling stations in Nowshera and Lakki Marwat districts where women were barred from casting votes during by-elections, SAMAA reports on Monday.According to reports, Chief Justice of the PHC Mr.Justice Dost Muhammad Khan had taken suo motu notice about complaints of stopping the women from exercising their right to vote on certain polling stations.On August 22, representatives of political parties and local tribal elders had an agreement under which women voters in Nowshera’s NA-5 constituency and other areas would not be allowed to go to polling stations and cast their votes.They said the deal was struck in the wake of Taliban’s threat to women voters.
