Residents of Multan protest against prolonged power cuts

Staff ReportMULTAN: The citizens staged a protest against prolonged, unannounced load shedding and broke goods at the MEPCO office, SAMAA reports on Friday.The protesters also set the record of the office on fire.The large number of protesters venting their anger raised vociferous slogans against the government and blocked Garden Road and burnt tyres.Rescue teams arrived at the scene and extinguished fire in the MEPCO office.Punjab is hit with the worst electricity load shedding this year where urban areas are facing 16 to 18 hours of electricity load shedding and rural areas remain without power for 18-20 hours every day. According to MEPCO, power deficit has reached 1900MW in 13 districts of MEPCO region. SAMAA
