Former Sindh governor Hakeem Saeed’s anniversary today

Staff ReportKARACHI: Hakim Mohammed Saeed, a prominent and world acclaimed medical researcher, scholar, philanthropist, and a former Governor of Sindh is being remembered on his death anniversary today (Wednesday).Hakim Saeed was born on January 9, 1920. He was a renowned scholar, and philanthropist of Pakistan and a former Governor of Sindh from 1993 until 1996. He established Hamdard Foundation in 1948. Within few years, the herbal medical products of Hamdard became household names. Hakim Mohammed Saeed wrote or compiled about 200 books. These include books on religion, tibb (natural medicine), health and sciences, books on literary, social and scientific topics and travelogues. He was a multifaceted personality, a physician, author of books, and editor of journals, bibliophile, an organizer, an idealist, an innovator, educationist and above all a patriot of the highest order. Hakeem Saeed founded Hamdard University in 1991. He made enormous contributions in the field of health, science, education and culture. Hakim Mohammed Said was murdered on October 17, 1998.He was awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz by Pakistan, in 2002, in recognition of his services and scholarship.On October 17 in 1998, Saeed was assassinated by a group of unknown assailants while he was on his way to attend a medical experiment at the Hamdard Laboratories. –SAMAA
