Heavy rains bring respite for Karachi residents

Staff ReportKARACHI: People of the city had a pleasant time as the city received the first- and much-waited heavy rain of the season on Wednesday.The areas that received the rain include Malir, Model Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shah Faisal Colony, Airport area, North Nazimabad, Shara-e-Faisal, Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Dalmia, Clifton and others.Power supply to several areas of the city was suspended after the rain as 80 feeders tripped.After the rain, people came out of their houses to enjoy the pleasant weather.Major parks and picnic spots attracted a large number of people, including women and children.The rain caused considerable decrease in the mercury level, providing much-needed relief to the people from the heat wave.
More rains are expected in next 24 hours, Met office has forecasted. SAMAA
