WHO suspends activities in Karachi after worker’s murder

Staff ReportKARACHI: Reacting to attacks on its personnel in Karachi, the World Health Organization has suspended its activities in the city for indefinite period, SAMAA reports.The organization had been pursuing campaigns against polio, malaria, dengue, AIDS, and tuberculosis (TB).According to a statement, the activities have been halted for indefinite period.The UN health agency’s local community worker, Muhammad Ishaq, who helped an anti-polio campaign in the city was shot dead on Saturday, days after two of its staff were injured in a shooting.
