Staff ReportKARACHI: Sunday brought a good news for Karachiites as the city welcomed four big cats – two Bengali tigers and two rare white lions, SAMAA reports.The four animals would be shifted to Karachi Zoological Garden next week as authorities are busy in making arrangement for the expensive guests.The zoo authorities expect a large crowd to visit once the white lions make their first public appearance, bring joy for the citizens especially for children. The Bengal tiger pair is imported from Belgium and white lions from South Africa at a cost of Rs10 million. This is for the first time in the history of Pakistan that a pair of white lions is being imported for any zoo in the country and acrylic glass cage is being constructed to facilitate the visitors to have a closer look at the pair of jungle royals.Various beautification steps are being taken to develop Karachi Zoo on the modern line, Director Karachi Zoo Dr Kazim Hussain said.After construction of the glass enclosure, the children will be able to measure their palms against the lion’s paws. – SAMAA
