Staff ReportISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) will resume hearing of important cases today (Thursday), including NRO implementation cases as well as memo scandal.According to the cause list of the apex court, three benches have been constituted to hear vital cases relating different matters. Also, a five-member special bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, has been constituted to resume the NRO implementation case.Other members of the bench are Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Muahammad Athar Saeed.During the last hearing, the court directed Attorney General Irfan Qadir to seek instructions from the incumbent Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf as to whether he is going to implement the court’s order on NRO with particular reference of implementing para 178 of the NRO Judgement for writing letter to Swiss authorities for re-opening graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.The court sought the Attorney General to submit the reply on behalf of Prime Minister regarding the Swiss letter. Another nine-member bench, headed by Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, will take up the memo scandal case today.A separate three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan and comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal and Justice Muhammad Athar Saeed, will resume the contempt of court case against real estate tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain for ridiculing the judiciary.On last hearing, Malik Riaz’s counsel Dr Basit did not appear before the court and sought adjournment in the instant case on health grounds. The court, however, rejected his plea and asked Advocate-on Record (AOR) Raja Abdul Ghafoor to argue before the court if Dr Basit failed to appear before the court on July 12. SAMAA/ AGENCIES
