Staff ReportKARACHI: Police on Tuesday resorted to baton charge to disperse Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) workers protesting against nonpayment of their salaries, SAMAA reports.More than 20 workers were also arrested by the police following a showdown when hundreds of municipal employees gathered near the Governor House in the Red Zone to stage a protest rally.However, heavy police contingents stopped the rally, resorting to baton charge and firing tear gas shells on protestors to disperse them.The KMC workers were demanding release of their stalled payments.Sources said the salary for the month of June has not so far been released to more than 36,000 KMC workers. — SAMAA
