PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has announced to raise power tariffs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 27 percent.
According to a PESCO spokesman, the future power tariff of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from now on will be equal to the other provinces of the country.
He added that this decision on the arrears of Rs.15 billion, for the period from September 5, 2008 to September 15, 2010, will be taken by the provincial and federal governments.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government took its petition back against the raise of power tariff, from the High Court of Peshawar.
The counsel for the KP government while taking back the petition said that the High Court bench, federal and provincial governments have reached common terms regarding the matter of power tariff.
He added that according to the KP government and federal government, the power tariffs of all four provinces will be the same in the future, while further differences will be settled in the Council of Common Interest (CCI). SAMAA
