Punjab: Hafiz Saeed isn’t in our custody

Staff Report

LAHORE: The Punjab authorities have clarified that the chief of the banned Jamaat-ud Dawa Hafiz Saeed, accused by India of being involved in the Mumbai attacks, has not been taken into custody.

On Wednesday, the Punjab Home department said that they had not received any information that Hafiz Saeed was involved in any terrorist act. However, they had received information that he could be targeted, which is why more police have been detailed at his residence. Furthermore, the decision is the Punjab home department’s and not the federal government’s. SAMAA
