KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet has approved a $3.25 billion dollar plan to extract coal in Thar and build a power plant.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah chaired the meeting. The cabinet also banned the use of used syringes, discussed the Sindh Public-Private Partnership and approved a draft bill to confer the status of women's university to the People's Medical College, Benazirabad. After the meeting, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri told the media that the cabinet members spoke against the increasing prices of every day items ahead of the holy month of Ramazan and decided that action will be taken to control prices. She said that the cabinet expressed satisfaction over the death of Rehman Baloch, also known as Rehman Dakait, and the efforts of the police to maintain law and order in Lyari. SAMAA
