Report: Taliban targeting Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Taliban leaders are targeting the capital Islamabad in retaliation for government offensives in the country's northwest, a local media report says.

A story carried Wednesday by a Pakistani daily says Taliban leaders have threatened clerics in Islamabad, telling them that if they don't support their militant brand of Islam they will be targeted as collaborators with the “pro-American Zardari government,” the Press Trust of India reported.

The report said Taliban leaders are plotting destruction in Islamabad in response to military efforts by President Asif Ali Zardari targeting the Taliban strongholds of Darra Adam Khel and the Swat Valley in the country's northwest.
