Stability of economy, law and order top priority: Gilani

LAHORE: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday said that stability of national economy and law and order was on top priority of the government. Addressing a press conference at airport here after his arrival from Islamabad, he said that the government was taking concrete measures to attract foreign investment in the country. “The government is committed to eliminate terrorism from the country as terrorist activities are main hurdle in the way of foreign investment,” he added.
Strongly condemning the suicide bomb blast at the gate of Qayyum Stadium in Peshawar, the Prime Minister reiterated the government’s resolve to fight against terrorism with the support of nation till the elimination of this menace from the society.

“It is a cowardly act by the terrorists to sabotage the development process in the country,” he added.

He said that the whole nation is united against the terrorists as they are the enemy of the country.

To a question about foreign attacks, he said that Pakistan’s sovereignty and integrity will be safeguarded at all costs.

To a question about the money exchange scandal, he said many persons were involved in this scandal while further inquiry is in progress in this regard.

He said that all issues would be resolved in the parliament in consultation with leaders of all the political parties. “The government believes in supremacy of institutions and wants its strengthening,” he added.

To another question about forgiveness of former President Pervez Musharraf, Yousuf Raza Gilani said that the parliament would decide in this regard.

Responding to another question about the return of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, the Prime minister said “It is country of Altaf Hussain and he (Altaf) is free to come.”
