Wrong injection case: Suspect remanded to police custody

The suspect behind an eight-month-old’s attempted murder was produced before the City Court in Karachi on Tuesday.

He has been remanded into police custody for five days.

The staffer at Darul Sehat Hospital, located in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar, had injected the infant with the an incorrect dosage of a drug. She was in critical condition and was shifted to another private hospital on Stadium Road.

The infant’s condition is better now, said the hospital’s spokesperson. “The swelling in her brain has reduced and we have removed her oxygen mask,” he said.

The child’s CT scan and other tests were carried out. “Once the swelling in her brain has been cured, we will get to know what part of the brain has been affected,” he added.

The Sindh Healthcare Commission has formed a nine-member board to investigate the case.

Her father, Qaiser Ali, had registered a case against the hospital at the Sharae Faisal police station.
