Just as people were getting over the shock of milk prices being raised by Rs23 in Karachi, they’ve been hit by another price hike. Bread is now more expensive too.
The Karachi Bread Association has announced that sliced bread and buns will cost more in the city.
A large loaf will cost Rs90 now, compared to its earlier price of Rs81. A medium-sized load is Rs7 more expensive and will cost Rs70 instead of Rs63.
A small loaf of bread will cost Rs50 instead of Rs44 and a mini loaf will cost Rs30.
The price hike comes a few days after milk prices rose in Karachi. The Karachi Dairy Farmers Association announced on Wednesday that it would be increasing milk prices from Rs85 per litre to Rs108.
The government did not agree to the new price, which led the association to act on its own. Many retail shops, however, are still selling milk at the old prices.
