Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, former Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid and Principal Information Officer Rao Tehseen have been held responsible by the Dawn leaks inquiry report for the controversy. The inquiry report has been prepared by Justice (r) Aamir Raza who headed the commission that investigated the scandal.

The report holds Tariq Fatemi, Pervaiz Rashid and Rao Tehseen responsible for the Newsgate scandal. The report has also recommended that action be taken against the three for the Dawn leaks conundrum. The report was presented after a detailed investigation was conducted into the matter.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and put the West Indies in to bat on the opening day of the first Test of the three-match series at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

This was the 50th Test between the two nations and also the 50th Test match to be played at Sabina Park in Kingston. Pakistan achieved a comfortable seven-wicket victory just after lunch on the final day of the first Test.

Pakistan Army released a confessional video statement of prominent leader of the Pakistani Taliban’s Jamaat-ur-Ahrar (JuA) faction, Ehsanullah Ehsan, who has surrendered to security forces last week.

Ehsanullah Ehsan remained Tehreek e-Taliban’s spokesman and later JuA’s. Both groups have carried out some of the most violent attacks in Pakistan.

In his confession before security forces, the notorious militants said that TTP maligned Islam and misguided the youths, saying that the banned outfit has contacts with RAW and Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS). He said disputed with Taliban leadership after the group accepted Indian assistance against Pakistan.

Vinod Khanna, the original heartthrob of Hindi films, died this morning. He was reportedly battling with cancer for years. The actor was 70. In his long Bollywood career, he worked in more than 100 films, and was an active politician, and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Punjab. Vinod is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna, sons Rahul, Akshaye and Sakshi, and daughter Shraddha Khanna. Khanna was born in a Punjabi family to Kamla and Kishanchand Khanna, a textiles, dyes and chemicals businessman, on 6 October 1946, in Peshawar.

Authorities in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir blocked social networking services, an unusually harsh measure to counteract escalating waves of protests in the region. In the order, the Indian government notified internet service providers to block the transmission of messages on 22 social networking services, including Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter, for a month, or until further orders.

Atif Aslam’s latest song for Bollywood ‘Hoor’ crossed the 3 Million views mark in less than 3 days. The ‘Aadat’ acclaimed rockstar has sung this song for Saba Qamar’s upcoming Bollywood film ‘Hindi Medium’ starring with Irrfan Khan directed by Saket Chaudhary. Atif Aslam collaborated with Bollywood composers Sachin-Jigar after their last collaboration on the song ‘Jeena Jeena’ for Badlapur.

Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony will hold a draw on Friday for selection of pilgrims for the Hajj, 2017 under the government scheme. Officials said so far the ministry has received 335,353 applications under the government scheme. The successful applicants would be informed through letters and text messages, whereas the results of successful candidates would also be available at www.mora.gov.pk and www.hajjinfo.org.
